september trip (28th-30th)

Community Health Teams:

The mission of the community health team, previously known as holistic care, is to provide support for the marginalized persons within the Mexicali health care system by sharing Christ’s love with them.

  • Refugio de Amor: This is a healthcare team that focuses on reviving the body, mind, and spirit of forgotten people groups in Mexico, specifically men with various forms of mental illness and disabilities. Refugio de Amor is a men’s mental health center that cares for disabled and mentally ill men on a full time basis to provide them a safe place to live, as these men would otherwise be on the streets. The team focuses on the relational development of the whole person by taking into consideration the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of each individual. They work with the staff to provide care, activities, and emotional support to the men who live there and they strive to show the men they are loved not only by them, but also everyday by Christ.
  • Esedin Autismo: This is a healthcare team that focuses on reviving the body, mind, and spirit of forgotten people groups in Mexico, specifically children with various types of autism and other disabilities. Esedin Autismo is an Autism Center that cares for disabled children in the community during the day, where the children receive an education, support, and interaction with other children of their level. The team focuses on the relational development of the whole person by taking into consideration the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of each individual. They work with the staff to provide care, activities, and emotional support to the children who attend the facility on a daily basis. The team strives to show the children they are loved not only by them, but also everyday by Christ.
  • Casa de Abuelo: This is healthcare team that focuses on reviving the body, mind, and spirit of forgotten people groups in Mexico, specifically the elderly. Casa de Abuelo is a Elderly Care Center that houses elderly from the community to give them a comfortable home and access to health care assistance on a daily basis. The patients at this site have been placed there by family members who cannot care for them any longer, or found on the streets. Most of the patients do not have family that visit them or support them, so our presence is important and grately appreciated. he team focuses on the relational development of the whole person by taking into consideration the physical, emotional,and spiritual well-being of each individual. They work with the staff to provide care, activities, and emotional support to the residents living in the facility. The team strives to show the residents they are loved, not only by them, but also everyday by Christ.

Kid's Ministry

  • Betania: The students of Team Betania are invited to join the local church in its efforts to share the love of Jesus through programs intentionally geared toward engaging children and youth. The team partners with the Mexican church in its mission to reach the community of Mexicali for Christ, specifically children in neighboring areas. They put on events, such as VBS, to engage the local children in fun and spiritual building activities to teach the love of Christ in a fun and entertaining way. This kids’ ministry team also engages with public schools near the church, helping build bridges between the local church and public schools.
  • Getsemani: The students of Team Getsemani are invited to join the local church in its efforts to share the love of Jesus through programs intentionally geared toward engaging children and youth. The team partners with the Mexican church in its mission to reach the community of Mexicali for Christ, specifically children in neighboring areas. They put on events, such as VBS, to engage the local children in fun and spiritual building activities to teach the love of Christ in a fun and entertaining way. This kids’ ministry team also engages with public schools near the church, helping build bridges between the local church and public schools. 
  • Remidos Por Gracia: The students of Team Redimidos Por Gracia are invited to join the local church in its efforts to share the love of Jesus through programs intentionally geared toward engaging children and youth. The team partners with the Mexican church in its mission to reach the community of Mexicali for Christ, specifically children in neighboring areas. They put on events, such as VBS, to engage the local children in fun and spiritual building activities to teach the love of Christ in a fun and entertaining way.   • Sendero de la Fe: The students of Team Sendero de la Fe are invited to join the local church in its efforts to share the love of Jesus through programs intentionally geared toward engaging children and youth.   • Templo de la Alabanza: The students of Team Templo Alabanza are invited to join the local church in its efforts to share the love of Jesus through programs intentionally geared toward engaging children and youth. The team partners with the Mexican church in its mission to reach the community of Mexicali for Christ, specifically children in neighboring areas. They put on events, such as VBS, to engage the local children in fun and spiritual building activities to teach the love of Christ in a fun and entertaining way. Luke Public Health (Team 1): 

  • Team 1 (Mexicali): This public health team is a mobile team that works alongside local and American medical professionals to set up medical clinics and provide health care, education, and access to medications that people in the community do not often have. This team works specifically in the neighborhoods around Mexicali, and often partners with sites other teams are serving with. They set up clinics in churches, orphanages, community parks, and many more locations to serve those in need. These students are able to be apart of a team who is able to bring medical care to people who do not otherwise have access to the opportunity due to financial, transportation, or health reasons.

Team Stephen: Community Service

  • This event staff team centers around humility and service, and strives to develop the community of Mexico through partnership with the city of Mexicali and the students who attend the trips. Team Stephen seeks to transform the physical aspect of the community through park and street restoration projects, and to also transform the spirit of the community by providing a tangible example of Christ’s love. They use their ability to provide for these communities to also share the gospel with those who may not know it and to be a listening ear to those who want to share their story. The team strives to show the people they serve that they are loved, not only by the them, but also everyday by Christ.
